Aspect Secures Milestone WFOE PFM Registration in China with YaoWang Law Office's Expertise
YaoWang Law Office has assisted Aspect in successfully registering its China office (Aspect China) as a Private Fund Manager (PFM) with Asset Management Association of China (AMAC), the private fund regulator in China, on 13 December 2024. As of this date, Aspect China is the first wholly foreign-owned private securities fund manager (WFOE PFM) approved for registration this year. The WFOE PFM registration enables Aspect China to carry out capital raising from the Chinese mainland and invest into Chinese financial markets and overseas.
Founded in 1997 and headquartered in London, UK, Aspect is a globally recognised systematic investment manager that has been included for 22 consecutive years in the SG Trend Index, the leading benchmark for global CTA strategies which covers the world's 10 largest CTA managers. The project demonstrates Aspect’s commitment to Chinese market as well as Chinese regulators’ determination of further opening-up.
The project is led by Melody Yang, partner and Co-head of YaoWang, with full dedication of YaoWang’s funds and reg team including partner Sherry Si and associate Mengyi Xie. Simmons funds and reg team including partner Darren Fox and associates Yuying Wang and Alan Tang have contributed from the U.K. law perspective to comply with AMAC’s requirements on carrying out DD on the parent and group companies of the WFOE PFM during the application process.
